I guess I've finally come to terms with the fact that summer is really over. So, I'm officially posting some summer pics of our summer vacation. We had a lovely little trip to my parent's house upstate. They took my little bro out to BYU and we took advantage of their empty house, minivan, and backyard (not to mention the ever-so-accessible Target, Walmart, and Shop-Rite!). We had a great time! It was so nice to just have some quality family time, not have to spend a ton of money on travel expenses, and have Jon around the whole time. I think it was probably our first "family vacation" where it was only us. It wasn't the most relaxing vacation because it was only us and we have 2 kids now which is just a lot of work, but it was time away from home and the city to re-group, which we desperately needed. We stopped by the Bronx Zoo on the way upstate, took a little side trip to the beach (mostly the hotel pool!) in Rhode Island, and spent some quality time in grandma's backyard!
checking out the zebras
counting the ducks!
watching big bro laugh at the crazy gorrilla...
carousel at Bear Mtn.
(our picnic plans were foiled by swarms of bees --where I got stung twice!-- so we took cover at the carousel)
kodak moment in gma's backyard
gotta love the inflatable pool!
Noah entertaining Gabe in the car
a fine Northeast dining establishment
(a staple during our trip -- I just couldn't pass up those baby carseat holders!)
boats at Mystic Seaport
the hotel pool -- family fun for everyone.
Gabe poolside
loving the water
(I seriously couldn't believe how long he stayed in this thing... I think it was close to an hour!)
testing out his floaties
3-day trip to Naragansett beach in R.I.
actual time spent on the beach: 2 hours
sandcastles!
playing out on the deck of our hotel room
(or our "backyard" as Noah called it -- the poor city kid has a warped sense of what a real backyard is!)
